Derek’s business was feeling the pinch from the recession. Like many others, he found the phone ringing less so his earnings started to slip very quickly. Derek’s not just any man with a plunger; he’s a skilled tradesman with over 25 years experience. He knows how to do a job properly and deserves to be working! 

The main issue was his lack of online presence. He himself admits that the modern world had crept up on him, plus with the sudden increase in competition offering cheap labour, exclusively relying on word-of-mouth just wasn’t going to work.

There was only one thing for it – to tell the world that Derek the plumber existed and he’s the man for the job. Dan, his son, made him a quick website with a great name featuring keywords so Derek’s business will appear in Google searches for plumbers in Poole.

Poole Plumbing had arrived! A week or so later, Derek didn’t just have himself a functional and well presented website, but a new, simple and modern company name. Soon, his e-mail inbox filled up with messages from prospective clients and the phone began to ring again.  By the end of the next week, PoolePlumbing.co.uk was at the number one spot on Google for bathroom and heating installation queries throughout the whole of Dorset.

His son Dan found this whole process exhilarating – helping his Dad, developing his own web design skills and feeling a great sense of reward by turning a company around in a matter of weeks. All he needed to do was find the missing button…
